Thanhouser Co. - US - 1909-1912 – production company formed by Edwin Thanhouser in an old skating rink in New Rochelle, N. Y.; opened a winter studio in Jacksonville, Florida in 1912; sold the studio to a group from Mutual later the same year. [see Thanhouser Film Corp.] Thanhouser Film Corp. - US - 1912-1918 – production company formed by the purchase of Thanhouser Company by Charles Hite, Crawford Livingston and Wilbert Schallenberger with Hite as president; Hite took control in January 1913 but the studio burned down; rebuilt in 1914 and shortly afterward Hite died in car accident; Mutual asked Edwin Thanhouser to come back and manage, which he did until he retired February 1918 and the studio was closed; studio was loaned to Clara Kimball Young; in 1919 acquired by A.
